Appointed boards offer citizens an opportunity to participate in the affairs of their county, to shape and influence public policy in many areas, and to contribute their time and talents to preserve the quality of life enjoyed by residents. Serving on a board can be a very rewarding experience.

Coffey County chooses to utilize the expertise and talents of its residents. As volunteers, the men and women who serve as members of the appointed boards help to support, guide, and assist in overseeing several county entities. Coffey County currently has seven appointed boards. Vacancies on the various appointed boards occur on a regular basis, so you are encouraged to check the status of terms frequently in order to stay informed.

More than 40 volunteers give of their time and talents to serve as members of the various county appointed boards. Their efforts help to save taxpayer dollars, and county government benefits from their active participation by taking advantage of the varied backgrounds, abilities, and experiences they bring to the table. You can share in the future of Coffey County by becoming a member of an appointed board.

To apply for membership on an appointed board, please mail a completed Appointed Board Application Form (PDF) along with a cover letter stating your interest in serving in this voluntary position to:
