Flight Training Scholarships

Young Child Next to a Small PlaneThe Coffey County Commission, the Airport Board, and the Economic Development Department are sponsoring the 22nd year of our Flight Training Scholarship Program.

Qualifications

Scholarships are available to one student from each school district in Coffey County and who are currently juniors. The student should be interested in aviation, be in good general health, have good eyesight, and be able to pay 20% or $1,110 of the training to obtain their pilots license. The scholarship covers the remaining 80% of the cost or $4,440.

How to Apply

Interested students can pick-up and return their applications to their school counselor. Each counselor then recommends a student to Coffey County Economic Development to participate in this yearly program. A brief presentation ceremony is held which allows the commissioners to award the scholarships to each participant by district.

If all program requirements are completed, the students will be a licensed pilot. A wide range of career paths become available to the students upon completion.
