What is public health?
Public Health is the science and art of protecting and improving the health of communities through education, promotion of healthy lifestyles, and research for disease and injury prevention. Public Health helps improve the health and well-being of people in local communities and around the globe. Public Health works to prevent health problems before they occur.
The Coffey County Health Department has completed a Community Health Assessment and Community Health Improvement Plan. The report reveals issues apparent to Coffey County and its partnering counties: Chase, Franklin, Greenwood, Lyon, Morris, Osage, and Wabaunsee. The four assessments included in this process will guide community efforts through 2017.
The Coffey County Health Department is committed to providing quality public health services in Coffey County, with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention. Personal health services are integrated into prevention activities with the goal of improving the health status of Coffey County as a whole.
