Tax Rates for Major Classes of Property

  • 11.5% - Real property used for residential purposes including multi-family residential real property
  • 12% - Vacant lots, real property owned and operated by not-for-profit organizations
  • 25% - Real property used for commercial and industrial purposes and buildings and other improvements located upon land devoted to agricultural use
  • 25% - Commercial and industrial machinery and equipment
  • 30% - Agricultural land, mineral leasehold interests and motor vehicles
  • 33% - Public utility real and personal property

Kansas Income Tax Rates (K.S.A. 79-32,110)

Corporate Income Tax:

  • Total taxable income @ 4% plus 3% surtax on taxable income over $50,000: 7.000% 

Personal Income Tax:

  • Married individuals filing joint returns:
    • Taxable income not over $30,000 @ 2.7% of Kansas taxable income
    • Taxable income over $30,000 @ $810 plus 4.8% of excess over $30,000
  • All other individuals:
    • Taxable income not over $15,000 @ 2.7% of Kansas taxable income
    • Taxable income over $15,000 @ $405 plus 4.8% of excess over $15,000
